After John DeLorean’s brand went under, most of the original parts were boxed off and sold preventing the possibility of a resurrection. Thanks largely in part to advances in CNC machine tools and rapid prototyping, the DeLorean Motor Company has found a way to recreate the parts needed to produce a very limited production run. The Renault V-6 engine used in the 1980s has been replaced with a modern engine that is able meet emissions standards in all 50 states. No word yet on the manufacturer or the performance statistics of the new powerplant. It is safe to assume that any modern engine used for this project will absolutely outperform the underpowered Renault originally used by John DeLorean.
