Production is finally set to begin on a two-year-long quest to create the ultimate Mustang. Price is expected to start around $120,000, including the base Mustang. Deliveries are expected to begin early spring with a six-speed manual gearbox coming standard along with an option for an automatic transmission.
The release on Galpin’s website states: “Galpin Auto Sports (GAS) and Henrik Fisker announced today the start of low-volume production on the 725 hp coach-built super Mustang dubbed “The Rocket,” which was first unveiled as a prototype last November during the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The first production model will make it world debut at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, March 14, where a select number of media will also have the opportunity to drive it. Production of the car by Galpin and Henrik Fisker represents the commitment to build a limited number of vehicles to sell to collectors and automotive enthusiasts alike after the car received a positive reception in Los Angeles last year.”
Buyers will be able to choose between the coupe that debuted at the LA Auto Show or a convertible option that was on display at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Both options will feature Brembo brakes and a supercharged V8 engine delivering a power output of 725 hp.
