Simon Pagenaud Wins First Verizon IndyCar Series Championship

“It’s unbelievable. I think I will realize it more tomorrow,” Pagenaud said. “What a race!”

“There is so much emotion right now, to be honest,” Said Pagenaud, who was barely able to maintain composure during interviews. “I can’t find the words. My whole career has been about this, about today and getting to this point and to this level.”

Pagenaud becomes the first Frenchman since Sebation Bourdais to win an Indy car championship. I’m sure that Pagenaud would love to duplicate the feat of his fellow countryman who was able to deliver four consecutive Indy car championships from 2004-2007. Right now it looks as if Pagenaud is going to live in this moment for the time being and enjoy the benefits of carrying all of this momentum into the 2017 season.

Chevrolet claims its fifth consecutive IndyCar Manufacturers’ title after winning 14 of 16 races this year. Chevrolet’s director of competition Mark Kent contributes the manufacturer’s success to the teams and the effort that was made every week of competition. “Every one of our teams wants to win. Our goal is to give them the building blocks to be successful, including our partners at Llmor engineering with the great 2.2 liter twin-turbo engine that they build for Chevrolet. It’s been a great season. We’re very proud of the opportunity to compete in this great series.”

Porsche Takes Front Row for Le Mans 24 Hour

Porsche has managed to secure the front row for the 84th running of the Le Mans 24 Hour endurance race taking place this weekend with Neel Jani claiming his second consecutive pole for the prestigious event. Rain washed out Thursday’s qualifying session that allowed Jani’s time of 3:19.733 delivered in the #2 Porsche 919 Hybrid from Wednesday’s practice session to count as the qualifying time. Jani now becomes the first Swiss driver to make back-to-back pole appearances since Stephane Sarrazin went three years in a row from 2007-2009.
