To commemorate its 50th anniversary in the
Japanese market, Ferrari will build 10 custom examples of the 488 Spider that
will include a removable targa hard top. This project has been left in the
hands of the Ferrari Special Projects team that will tailor each vehicle to the
unique specifications of the owner. As is often the case with limited editions
from Ferrari, the J50 will maintain the 3.9-liter turbocharged V-8 powerplant
found in the standard Ferrari 488 GTB.
Everything that makes the J50 stand out can be easily seen
on the exterior of the vehicle. All of the body styling has been created to
improve aerodynamic downforce and increase airflow to the engine. The windshield
of the J50 has been lowered to create a sleek appearance and to assist with
shooting air over the top of the car. The nose of the J50 has also been lowered
to create a more aggressive look and help to improve the overall performance of
the vehicle. All 10 examples of the J50 have been sold with the exact price of
the sale remaining a mystery. History has shown that vehicles with such a
limited-run and promise of exclusivity tend to demand a high price and a strong
collector value. Expect all 10 examples of the J50 to do the same.
