Hennessey Venom GT Just Got Faster

Back in early 2014, Hennessey Performance Engineering set the exotic auto world on fire with the mind-blowing performance of their modified Lotus Exige, the Hennessey Venom GT. The Texas-based auto tuners took their exotic auto masterpiece to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center where it hit a top speed of 270.49 miles per hour, breaking the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s record of 267.86 miles per hour. Now, not even a year later, Hennessey is ready to unveil its newest speed machine.

At this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) convention in Las Vegas, Hennessey will showcase its new Venom GT. The boys from Houston, Texas brought their A-Game and somehow managed to squeeze out an extra 207 horsepower from their exotic auto monster of a car. This brings the bite of the Venom GT’s 7.0L V8 engine up to a staggering 1,451 horsepower on a supercar that weighs just 2,743 pounds, which is almost 400 pounds lighter than a Lamborghini Huracan. This new Venom GT is said to hit 60 miles per hour from a standing position in just 2.4 seconds and reach top speeds in excess of 280 miles per hour, comfortable beyond the 270 miles per hour mark of the previous model.

Unfortunately for Hennessey and the United States, Bugatti still officially holds the speed record for the fastest production car, according to Guinness World Records, due to the minimal amount of units sold for the Venom GT. Regardless of what the paperwork says, the bottom line is that the Hennessey Performance Engineering Venom GT is one of the most exciting, and brutally powerful cars out there today.
