Nearly a decade ago, Audi shocked the automotive world by releasing their first high-performance supercar, the Audi R8. True to form, Audi hasn’t been content resting on their laurels and has improved upon the formula with their new, stunning second generation R8. Officially revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the second generation of the R8 is a true evolution of a car that has been hailed as “the best handling road car today.”
Working off of the philosophy that true success never stands still, the new R8 looks sharper and more aggressive than its first generation counterpart. The car now sits lower, like a lioness stalking its prey in the wild, and even weighs less than it did before. This evolution in design continues straight to the car’s platform, moving from the Lamborghini Gallardo platform to the newer raging bull, the Lamborghini Huracan. The R8’s signature side blade returns and is sporting a new two-part design, but the real difference is what’s hiding under the hood.
The new V10 engine is more advanced than ever. At roughly 533 horsepower, this R8 is packing more power and more torque than ever before. Additionally, the drive torque now supports full variable distribution between the front and rear axles, giving you the freedom to drive the R8 as aggressively as you desire. As if the new Audi R8’s V10 engine wasn’t enough, the German manufacturer is also releasing a V10 Plus model that comes roaring to life with over 600 horsepower and the capability to hit blurring speeds over 200 miles per hour.
The all-new Audi R8 is the most exciting car ever built by the German manufacturer, and it truly is a race car, built for the road and for majesty.
