40 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Get Ready to Race

Over the next six months, 40 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 racers will compete in some of the most prestigious GT championships worldwide to include the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, SuperGT in Asia, Asian Le Mans Series, GT Asia, Blancpain GT, ADAC GT Masters, British GT Championship and the International GT Open. Since making a stunning debut in 2015 at the Blancpain GT Endurance Series Cup at Monza, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 has captivated the racing world by storm and is poised to make a definitive mark in 2016.

While the Lamborghini name is not new to GT racing, the Huracan GT is set to launch the Raging Bull into all-new territory by being the first fully engineered, developed and assembled racer to be manufactured at the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The Huracan GT3 was specifically designed to meet the demand for a factory built and supported Italian GT racer that would be available to customers around the globe. Giorgio Sanna, Head of Lamborghini Motorsport, explained that the Huracan GT was specifically designed to meet the demands of even the most challenging circuits. “The target was to achieve the best compromise in the [four] main areas: power/engine, aerodynamic, chassis and weight as well, Sanna recently explained to Sportscar365. “What’s good on the Huracan GT3 is these kind of things.”

Ironically, in order to meet racing standards imposed by FIA’s Balance of Performance, the Lamborghini Huracan GT needed to be reduced by 100 hp. “Considering the actual rules in the FIA with the BoP, we don’t need to increase the power, we need to reduce the power,” Sanna said. “So we’ve worked more on the electronic point of view to have good reliability of the engine with more torque and less power.” “On the GT3 car, we have less power than the Super Trofeo because the target is to have a car with a perfect behavior. The GT3 car has a dedicated [race] chassis and suspension too.”
